NRC Health Welcomes Dr. Thomas Howell as Physician Advisor to Advance Human-Centered Healthcare
NRC Health is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Thomas Howell as our new Physician Advisor. In this role, Dr. Howell will launch and lead a physician advisory council, ensuring that NRC Health continues to meet the evolving needs of healthcare organizations while shaping the future of patient experience in partnership with physician leaders.
A Career Dedicated to Clinical Excellence and Leadership
Dr. Howell brings over 30 years of clinical experience as a practicing OB/GYN, having begun his practice in Minnesota in 1991. He earned his M.D. from the University of Arizona and completed his residency at Maricopa County and St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Phoenix.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Howell holds a B.S. in Psychology from Arizona State University, a Physician Executive certification, and a Master’s in Healthcare Quality and Safety. He also serves as an assistant professor at Mayo Clinic.
His former leadership roles at Mayo Clinic include Chair of the Community Division of OB/GYN and Assistant Medical Director of Patient Experience, in which roles he guided initiatives to improve patient care, physician engagement, and organizational performance.
Driving Physician-Led Insights and Thought Leadership
At NRC Health, Dr. Howell will provide strategic insights to clinical teams, enabling healthcare organizations to enhance patient experience and outcomes. As leader of the physician advisory council, he will ensure physician insights guide innovation grounded in real-world, clinical experience.
Dr. Howell brings a strong belief in relational healthcare as the most effective approach for both patients and physicians. “Almost 35 years of medical practice have confirmed that focusing on the humanity of our interactions creates the most meaningful and effective care,” he said. “NRC Health’s vision of Human Understanding coupled with their technology platform aligns perfectly with my desire to humanize healthcare on a larger scale.”
