Embracing Change with Clarity and Conviction
Trent Green ushers in a new era of leadership as NRC Health CEO.
There’s something powerful about coming home, especially when “home” also happens to be a place where you can help shape the future of healthcare.
That’s part of what makes Trent Green’s arrival as NRC Health’s new CEO so exciting. Starting June 1, Trent will step into the role with deep industry experience, a strong sense of purpose, and a very personal connection to the organization’s headquarters in Lincoln, Nebraska.
“I was born and raised here,” he shares. “After nearly three decades in healthcare, I found myself back in Lincoln, standing outside NRC Health’s headquarters, and thinking, ‘How do I not know more about this company?’ That moment really stuck with me.”
Trent isn’t just bringing a fresh title—he’s bringing a fresh perspective, grounded in relationships, innovation, and an unshakable belief in healthcare’s ability to do better by the people it serves.
A Leader Rooted in Healthcare—and in Lincoln
Trent brings more than 25 years of diverse and impactful healthcare leadership to NRC Health, including his roles as CEO of Amazon One Medical and COO of Legacy Health. But beyond his impressive résumé, Trent’s connection to NRC Health is deeply personal.
Trent’s decision to join NRC Health wasn’t driven by job seeking—it was driven by purpose. “I wasn’t looking,” he says. “But when I began learning more about NRC Health and its mission, I felt a sense of alignment I couldn’t ignore.”
A Vision Grounded in Human Understanding
Trent characterizes his leadership style as deeply relational and people-focused. That style is guided by a simple yet powerful philosophy: “Listen carefully, praise generously, and practice the highest form of mindfulness—curiosity.”
He emphasizes that while healthcare is undergoing enormous pressure—from financial challenges to workforce strain and shifting consumer expectations—these disruptions spell opportunity for organizations willing to embrace change with clarity and conviction.
“Our role is to continue to help healthcare organizations understand and create those environments.”
What This Means for NRC Health Partners
Trent’s arrival signals an invigorated push to expand NRC Health’s capabilities, co-designing innovative, data-driven solutions that improve experiences for patients, families, employees, and communities.
Drawing on his experience at One Medical, Trent brings a sharp lens for consumer expectations in healthcare. “People want systems that know them, anticipate their needs, and guide them without friction.”
This patient-first, insight-driven approach aligns deeply with NRC Health’s vision of Human Understanding®—and Trent is ready to lead the charge.
Stability, Strategy, and Growth
With any leadership transition comes a natural question: What’s next? At NRC Health, the answer is both continuity and renewed momentum. As Trent steps into the CEO role, he does so with deep respect for the company’s legacy—and a clear vision for its future.
Trent succeeds Mike Hays, NRC Health’s founder and long-serving CEO, who will transition to Chairman of the Board. This thoughtful handoff ensures stability and strategic alignment while preserving the mission-driven leadership that has shaped NRC Health for over four decades.
“Trent’s proven leadership, strategic insight, track record of partnerships, and commitment to healthcare innovation make him the ideal choice to lead NRC Health into the future,” says Hays. “On behalf of the board and our associates, I’m thrilled to welcome him to NRC Health.”
Partners can expect a leadership approach grounded in transparency, curiosity, and collaboration. Trent brings not only extensive operational expertise, but also a commitment to being present and engaged with the people and organizations NRC Health serves.
“I’m a relationship-driven, human-centered leader,” says Trent. “I thrive in environments where people feel a sense of belonging. That’s what I sensed at NRC Health, and it’s something we’ll continue to foster.”
