Patient experience can be defined as the series of interactions patients have along their healthcare journeys. Good communication, being responsive to needs, personalizing care and smooth transitions are associated with positive patient experiences. Patient safety is a critical part of the healthcare experience as well. While safety is often managed as a separate discipline, most would agree that you can’t have a good patient experience without having a safe one.
